Lisa Beattie – General Manager
With over 20 years’ experience in health care, leading the teams at both Hamlets sites in Red Deer is General Manager, Lisa Beattie. Although born in Lethbridge Alberta, Lisa lived in Saskatoon, SK until she was 16 years old. In 1992, her family moved back to Lethbridge where Lisa finished school and started her own family. In 1999 Lisa was offered a position in a private seniors group home as a Health Care Aide. She had finally found her calling! In 2000, Lisa was one of the first graduates from the new HCA program; this was the next step in her career, which she has been involved with for the last 20+ years.
In 2009, Lisa decided to move her little family to Penticton, BC. It was in March of that year when she first walked through the doors of The Hamlets at Penticton. She was hired on as a night care aide, which was great for family life. After 1.5 years, Lisa was moved to the front desk, then to the HR assistant position. Through hard work and training, after 6 more years, she was promoted to Director of Operations for the site. Having always missed Alberta, when the opportunity to work with the Hamlets homes in Red Deer became available, Lisa decided to make the jump back. She has been blessed with such amazing teams and is excited to continue working with them to make the Hamlets family strong.
Shelley Dalueg – Independent Living Care Coordinator
Shelley Dalueg was born right here in Red Deer. After finishing high school at Camille J LeRouge in 1990, Shelley started her family soon after and has a 29-year-old son and a 26-year-old daughter. In 1995 she met her current husband and welcomed his three sons into her family, and since then, has been blessed with 12 grandchildren. Shelley’s family has planted their roots deep on an acreage just east of Red Deer. When her family was young, Shelley stayed home and operated a private day home, then re-entered the work world in administration.
In 2009 it was time for change, and because of her passion for people, Shelley embarked on the journey of nursing. She obtained her LPN diploma at Red Deer College, graduating in the spring of 2013. Her nursing career started in supportive living and then broadened with experiences in surgical nursing, community health, and now as a part of the Hamlets family as the Independent Living Care Coordinator. Shelley feels very strongly regarding the ideas of collaborative care and allowing our “grandparents” to age in place, fostering independence. She is very grateful for the opportunities to be a team member assessing and implanting the plans of care with residents and their families.
Jaime Riggins – Community Relations Coordinator
They don’t come more local than the Community Relations Coordinator, Jaime Riggins, who joined The Hamlets in January 2019 and immediately felt at home, professionally speaking. Jaime’s family planted their roots in Red Deer in the 1920s and she is proud that her children are being raised in this amazing city as she was. Jaime has been married over 18 years and has two sons: 10 & 13 years old. Her work in Community Relations has varied with roles in both profit and non-profit organizations.
She began her career working for the David Thompson Health Region Foundation assisting on events like The Festival of Trees, from there she became the inaugural Program Coordinator for Red Deer Safety City and continued her career with Robco Cabinets as their Public Relations Coordinator until she left in 2007 to raise her family. When Jaime returned to the work force in 2018, she filled a few temporary positions until she found The Hamlets at Deer Park. Very few people are fortunate to have their “dream job”, Jaime is one of them. Her role which includes connecting with our community, planning events, and working with families to support their loved ones as they age, is a perfect pairing for her strong passion to help others. Jaime feels very blessed to be a part of The Hamlets Family.
Shelby Friesen – Recreation Coordinator
Shelby Friesen is Recreation Coordinator extraordinaire for The Hamlets at Deer Park. Shelby has been working at The Hamlets since March of 2019 and has loved every minute of it! Born and raised right here in Red Deer, Shelby currently resides on a farm west of Eckville. In 2018 she graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree. While in university, Shelby was introduced to career possibilities working with seniors in a recreation setting and knew then that it was the direction she wanted her career path to follow so she feels very fortunate to have found this position.
When not at work Shelby spends most of her time riding her horse, coaching riding lessons, and competing in the equestrian sport of ‘3-day Eventing’. Shelby also loves to be outside on the farm, walking her dog, hiking, camping, and any activities that allows her to enjoy the great outdoors!
Andreas Kowarschik – Maintenance Supervisor
Maintenance Supervisor, Andreas Kowarschik joined The Hamlets family in August 2019 and enjoys every minute working in a senior home. Born and raised in Germany, Andreas went to school and completed his apprenticeship as an automotive mechanic. He also registered with the Red Cross to complete his Paramedic training and worked as a paramedic for 15 years part time. During his paramedic training in the hospital, Andreas found interest in Building Maintenance and started his career as a Maintenance Technician.
In 2004, Andreas moved his family to Canada, which they love, and have lived here ever since, receiving their Canadian Citizenship in 2010. When he arrived in Canada in 2004, he was fortunate to find employment as a Maintenance Technician. In 2015, Andreas returned to school where he completed his Class 5 Power Engineering at SAIT. During that time, he was amassing work experience with the Alberta Government as a Building Operator in the Provincial Building, Remand Centre, and Courthouse in Red Deer. But his love for working within seniors’ homes never left him and feels he was truly fortunate to find his position with The Hamlet at Deer Park and is happy to be a part of the team.
Carrie Whiting – Confidential Administrative Assistant
Born in Fort St Johns B.C. Carrie moved to the Shuswap area in British Columbia when she was 12 years old. Carrie has been married for 34 years, is a mother of two girls and a grandmother of four boys. She had a couple of small jobs as a teenager, but when she turned 20 Carrie took a job in retail that lasted for 17 years. Her retail background was mainly in management, purchasing for the company, hiring, customer service, and education. Carrie was responsible for taking a small business and growing it into a very successful & profitable company.
When that chapter of her life closed, she chose to go into the health care industry. Carrie’s next adventure was 10 years with a seniors’ home in various roles including housekeeping, hospitality, recreation, and administration. She had discovered that she had a profound amount of joy working with seniors and wanted to do nothing but work in the health care field. In 2017 Carrie moved to Alberta to be closer to her children and grandchildren and immediately found employment in the field that she loves most. Carrie has been working at The Hamlets at Deer Park since 2017, in a variety of roles and plans to be a part of this family for a very long time.
